LAN/SAN/DAS connectivity

VIO-4008
Delivers virtual I/O for LAN/SAN/DAS connectivity
Adds share SAS/SATA disk storage

The VIO-4000 series delivers fast, scalable LAN/SAN/DAS I/O connectivity to servers and is available in two model configurations.  A single switch can be connected to 16 servers and provide up to four virtual I/O adapters with dual port Ethernet, Fibre Channel or SAS/SATA direct attached storage.

The VIO-4000 series supports dense deployment of 1U and sub 1U servers that have no I/O adapters or disks; the only requirement is for a single PCI Express slot for a passive PCI Express Extender card.

The VIO-4000 switches are the first products in the market to consolidate, virtualize and share three major types of server networking and storage connectivity:

  • Ethernet
  • Converged Unified Fabric (FCoE)
  • SAS/SATA and Fibre Channel

The VIO-4000 switch is available for data center deployment in two form key flavors for standard 19" 2U rack-mount units:

  • VIO-4001 – 16 server ports, delivers LAN/SAN connectivity, up to 80 Gbps performance
  • VIO-4008 – includes shareable RAID storage with 8 SAS/SATA hot plug disk drives

Feature Highlights
