The Virtensys VIO-4000 series I/O virtualization switch has been selected by TechTarget's Storage Magazine and Searchstorage.com as a 2009 Product of the Year winner in the Storage Networking Equipment category

MANCHESTER, U.K. and BEAVERTON, OR. — February 4, 2010 — Virtensys™, Ltd, a leader in next-generation I/O solutions for data centers, today announced that the Virtensys VIO-4000 series I/O virtualization switch has been selected by TechTarget's Storage Magazine and Searchstorage.com as a 2009 Product of the Year winner in the Storage Networking Equipment category.

The Storage magazine and SearchStorage.com's annual ‘Storage Products of the Year' awards recognize "companies and products that stand out for their functionality, value, performance, innovation, ease of use and integration." The Storage magazine and SearchStorage.com editorial staff, in conjunction with a team of users, industry experts, analysts, and consultants narrowed the finalists down to a list of 15 products across five categories: backup and disaster recovery (DR) hardware, backup and disaster recovery software and services, disks and disk subsystems, storage management tools and storage networking equipment. VirtenSys received the Bronze award in the Storage Networking Equipment category.

"We are extremely pleased to be among the award winners recognized by Storage magazine and SearchStorage.com," said Ahmet Houssein, president and CEO at Virtensys. "Customers can deploy our I/O virtualization switches immediately and in a non-disruptive way, allowing them to tackle I/O problems in their data centers and dramatically reduce costs, power consumption and management complexity. We announced the general availability of our switches a few months ago, and we are in an excellent position to continue building on the strong demand from OEM customers and end-users. This award comes on the heels of our recent announcement revealing our channel expansion in the U.S. and EMEA."

About Virtensys IO Virtualization Switches

VIO 4000 switches are the first products on the market to consolidate, virtualise and share the major types of server networking and storage I/O adapters without requiring any changes to be made to the servers or networks. The VIO-4000 series eliminates the network and storage access layer switches and cables from the rack and attaches to each server using a single PCI Express® (PCIe) cable that connects directly to the server-native PCIe bus, thus removing the need to deploy any new network in the data centre. The VIO 4000 switches deliver the full connectivity bandwidth to servers, increase network and storage utilization to more than 80% and significantly reduce I/O power consumption, equipment costs and server management complexity and expenses by more than 60 percent. This results in providing servers with the industry's best I/O price/performance and lowest energy consumption for accessing local area networks and storage infrastructures using traditional and emerging technologies including Ethernet, Fibre Channel, FCoE, iSCSI and SAS/SATA.

The VIO-4000 series switches won the "Best of New Technology" award at VMworld 2009, were named one of CRN's "Top 20 Storage Products at VMworld 2009," and were recognized by Techworld as Virtualization Product of the Year for 2009.
