MANCHESTER, U.K. and BEAVERTON, Ore. January 20, 2010 — Virtensys™, Ltd, a leader in next-generation I/O solutions for data centers, today announced that the Virtensys VIO-4000 series I/O virtualization switch was chosen by Storage Magazine and Searchstorage.com as a 2009 Product of the Year finalist in the Storage Networking Equipment category. Earlier last week, Virtensys was also selected by Network Products Guide as a finalist for the 2010 'Hot Companies and Technologies' award.
The finalists in this year's Searchstorage competition were broken into five storage product categories, and were chosen because they "demonstrated exceptional innovation, functionality and value." The finalists for the coveted Network Products Guide 2010 Hot Companies award were selected based on "entrepreneurial spirit, seasoned executives, clear understanding of the segment of technology market they are currently active in, products and solutions that are positioned to take advantage of the emerging market opportunities, well developed revenue-growth model and clearly planned expansion strategies."
"2009 was a great year for us as we launched our first products," said Ahmet Houssein, president and CEO at Virtensys. "We are seeing very strong demand for our I/O virtualization switches from end-users and OEM customers. I am very pleased to see industry experts and the media recognize the benefits that our I/O virtualization products bring to data centers today. "
About Virtensys IO Virtualization Products
The VIO 4000 switches are the first products on the market to consolidate, virtualize and share the major types of server networking and storage I/O adapters without requiring any changes be made to the servers or networks. The switches utilize the native PCI Express® standard interconnect available in every server. The VIO 4000 switches deliver full connectivity bandwidth to servers, halve equipment costs and eliminate multiple network and storage aggregation switches and cables. The switches also reduce I/O power consumption by more than 70 percent and lower server management complexity and costs by more than 60 percent. This results in providing servers with the best price/performance and lowest energy consumption for accessing not only the local area networks (LAN), but also the storage infrastructures, including direct-attached storage (DAS) and storage area networks (SAN).
